My beautiful Nanie Ann :)

Darbey Rhea
& Delaney Ann

Two peas in a pod some call us...Delaney, or naney as she's referred to around here, is my cousin and best friend. Sometimes I find that we are the same people...we think alike, we look alike, and ever since we were little we've dressed alike! And if ever you mistake us for each other or call us the wrong name...no worries, we'll answer and won't try to correct you! ;) I could tell you every little fact about her and i betcha she could do the same with me. We can tell each other everything...she listens patiently as I ramble on and when I'm finally finished she's there to give great advice! We are as close as sisters...I don't have a little sister and she doesn't have a big sister so we like to pretend we are!

Delaney is an amazing young lady and I am not one bit concerned about her future. Well I AM concerned about pesky boys coming around soon...she's SO beautiful! She is so sweet (ignore those times she attempts to quiet down her little rascals (Drakey, Reedy Bob, and Spiderman...another blog for those cuties another time) and talented!..she's taking after Auntie J in the art department. And in the 2014 olympics...if you see the gold medalist who just succesfully completed a triple lutz..yeah, that's Delaney. She's working on her ice-skating (..just recently was the ONLY person in her class to move up a level...Big Cousin Darb is so proud!) and using her drawing skills to design her own ice-skating outfits! They're absolutely adorable!! Needless to say, she has alot going for her!

I admire Delaney so much and I hope she knows how much I love her! This girl can remember so many Bible stories it often reminds me to go back and brush up on my Bible knowledge...such a christian young lady! God has truly blessed me with a wonderful cousin! Love you Naney!

We love to play dress up at our sleepovers...here's a few pics from when I did her hair and makeup a few months ago :)

"Taylor, I'm gonna let you finish...but Darbey had the best look of all time!"

If you're not sure about my post title click here!

I really like Taylor Swift...well okay, let me explain. Maybe I'm not such a fan of her dancing, or her live singing, and maybe I was a little jealous when she had a thing with Taylor Lautner. But aside from all that I really like how down to earth and humble she is. I get so sick and tired of seeing all of the celebrity drama and how fame gets to people...it's nice to see someone who can be in the spotlight without changing who they are. And on top of all that she is beautiful! She has what i consider natural beauty...she might not be the supermodel type but just look at that hair! No one can have that hair out of a salon. She really is one of a kind. :)

One thing that is really unique about Taylor is her eyes! I once read in a magazine that in elementary and middle school she got made fun of for how small and squinty they are and even she admits that she always wanted to change them. But i honestly think they are lovely! (thanks for that one Aunt Jammie!) She also said that she doesn't mind them as much anymore and that she's comfortable with the way she is! ....So i wanted to really accent her eyes :)

Taylor's Make-up!

"Can you tell which one is smaller?" " This eye appears smaller because of the eyeliner"

To make your eyes appear bigger, use lighter shades around the inner corner of your eyes. But if you want to make your eyes appear smaller, use darker shades or apply a thicker line of eyeliner. What I did was apply a brown liner all over the lid and then I set it with a dark brown eyeshadow.

The other thing about her makeup in this picture is that her highlight under her brow bone is a sparkly orange/gold color which you really don't see that often. My picture doesn't show the true color that I have on but you get the point :)

And the last thing about Taylor's eyes... they are blue as the water in Turks and Caicos! So for you baby blues out there...use browns, oranges, and blues to make your blue eyes pop!

Taylor's hair!

Alright, so go ahead and bring out the curling irons! :)

What I used:
*Got2B Guardian Angel 425F Curl Iron Spray and gloss finish
*Hot Tools 3/4 in. spring curling iron <<(amazing!) * Clip to section off hair

Technique:
Normally, when curling hair you just clip it in and roll it up..but that gives you more of a barrel curl... Taylor has very tight waves so this is what you do...

-section off first layer of hair with a clip

-spray in heat protectant (very important!)
-take a piece of hair (no bigger than an inch) and start near your roots.
-Basically all you're going to do is wrap your hair around the curling iron without using the..ummm, whats the word? The thing that you open up that holds the hair onto the iron? (someone needs to drink more crazy juice!) ;)
-you might want to use gloves for this part since you will be holding the end of your hair to the iron
-hold for 10-15 seconds
-let fall :)
-hairspray layer by layer!

*You'll be amazed at how different this curl looks from the well known barrel curl*

(I know that my curls don't look exactly like Taylor's but I tried!) =)

The Final Look:

The Beauty in this? Embrace your flaws! :) Nothing is more beautiful than a confident woman. To you, your flaw may seem irritating but to the person next to you...they don't even notice! If Taylor can accept her squinty eyes then "Nose, you stay right there..big and in all your glory!" ;)

How about a high five for the '30s jive!

I absolutely LOVE the '30-'40 era! I love everything about it... the music, hair, style, the care-free attitude, the dancing, and as mom would say "the flavor" :)

Check out these pics from my latest dress-up! Think I would fit in okay?
P.S. - to get the full effect I added some background music to get you in the boogie mood...I know I did!! Enjoy!

Reunited and it feels so good!...

Hello. My name is Darbey. Is this where I should start?? yes i know, i have been major slacking on my blog (ha! and I only have 3 postings) but I'm back in the saddle again as Aunt J would say!
Where have I been you may ask? Well...it all started a couple of weeks ago as I was under enormous stress about a cheer festival (competition) routine. I finally pulled it all together and our squad came home with a 1 rating last weekend!! (1 rating is the best out of 3 :)) Now, this past weekend was a whole new can of worms...we were hosting sub-state and between dance class, school, homework, cheering at games, finishing up basketball practice, play practice..I was just a tid bit on the 'im about to lose it' side. Friday night was the boy's second game in sub-state...against loserburg oh! im sorry i mean louisburg... anywho..the gym was packed and everyone was excited. All thought it would be an intense game but all expected a win considering we had already beat louisburg once this year. ... .... .... .... tied game. overtime. tie again. double overtime. ---5...4...3...2...1.... "awhhh...." Now wait just a minute, let's rewind... this was not supposed to happen...WE were supposed to win.. Well, we didn't and it was an absolute disappointment.

But that's not the point of See the Beauty ...the point is this: through all of the horrible "I can't take this" whispers to my squad in the last few minutes of the game, through all of the sweat dripping down my face, and through all the sticky, sweaty little 3rd grade boys anxiously watching the game by my feet....somewhere between shunning them away and pumping up the crowd I saw the most happiest and biggest smile that I have EVER seen... at this point in the game I was gripping the girl next to me and trying to tell myself I WASN'T having a heart attack. But as soon as I saw the excitement and joy and the 'I don't have a care in the world' grin across this little boys face...I was suddenly excited, joyous, and I didn't have a care in the world. I instantly felt calm and relaxed and all I wanted to do at that moment was watch this little boy have the time of his life...watching a 4-A High School basketball game that is.. If I had a camera at the time I would have a snapped a quick one and maybe it would give you a better glimpse into how good it made me feel. I don't know about you, but I find that kids always make me feel better..no matter what situation I may be in kids always make everything seem normal, happy, and calm (overlook the times when they're bouncing off the walls and the peanut butter in their ears) It's amazing what children can do even if we don't notice it. Think about it, when you see a little face smiling back at you after a horrible day..you can't help but just smile. Sometimes we (I say this preaching to myself) take advantage of the little things in life...and sometimes the littlest things can make us the happiest! The little smile beaming from that little boy made losing that game so much easier..If we look past the hard times in life maybe we'll be able to see our silver lining and that little face that makes everything okay :)

p.s - sorry there aren't any pics on this post Auntie J!! ...I promise to make up for it in my next post! :)
